Most of us can appreciate Wagner's music while regretting his politics.

David appears to be saying he has it the other way round.

Paranoia - "a psychological disorder characterized by delusions of persecution or grandeur"

is a web-based definition not far from mine.

"wholeheartedly" normally spelled as one word for what it's worth in England.

Since this latest tactic has escaped moderation, I can whole heartedly, Jack, say that when it comes to Wagner I would much rather RVW or, indeed, any of the traditonal musics mentioned above; and, Stu, I guess your warped idea of "paranoia" is checking this thread in case someone had posted about the topic.

At some point Wagner described the the saxophone as a "mixed-race instrument", and any political connotations were entirely intentional.

It looks like David Franks is comoing from the same place.

No he didn't invent the sax for military music - it was more complex than that. And I've still no axe to grind with you as a person David. It's unfair to wreck what had been a good thread with your apparent paranoia, so I replied on this one which is undoubtably yours

That was a good one, and is on again this Saturday at 3 pm, apparently: bamboo percussion accompaniment in the Solomon Islands; alphorns, yodeling, and cowbells in Switzerland; plus close harmony singing, accompanied by the Nepalese version a fiddle, flute, etc.

On BBC R3 now, and probably iPlayer later, Music Planet includes Nepalese, Solomon, and Swiss traditional music, this time.
