Subject: Obit: Jim McKenna - Scottish Singer/Songmaker From: Scabby Douglas Date: 10 Feb 11 - 09:03 PM I have heard in the last few hours that Jim McKenna, stalwart of the Glasgow and Lanarkshire folk music scene passed away on Thursday 10th February 2011. Jim was a songwright, singer, concert promoter, organiser. He was passionate and outspoken about music and life itself. I believe the funeral will be at Daldowie Crematorium on Tuesday 15th, at 12:00. He'll be missed sorely. |

Subject: Obit: Jim McKenna RIP From: Ragman Date: 18 Feb 11 - 07:02 PM I've just heard that Jim McKenna passed away very recently. Jim was a tremendous singer and interpreter of songs from all genres, and when he put his mind to it, a great songwriter too. He had been unwell for some time, but still appeared from time to time in the Uisge Beatha on Woodlands Road on Sunday evenings. A real fighter! Here's a Youtube link to him singing Supermarket Wine in Glasgow in 2008. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0N6v4U3b1ps&feature=related I'll miss him. So will a lot of people... RIP |
