Subject: Ian Walker & Ian Bruce, Edin Folk Club From: Johnny J Date: 18 Feb 11 - 06:36 AM Wednesday 23rd February 2011 A rare opportunity to hear the two Ians together again..... Please see their sites for more info http://www.ianwalkeronline.com/index.php http://www.ianbruce.org/ "In 1985, Ian Walker's first album, "Roses in December", was recorded by Gavin Livingstone (of the band "Tonight at Noon"). This was followed in 1987 by "Flying High" on Fellside Recordings. The Music Retailers Association (MRA) in London voted "Flying High" the outright winner in their Folk and Country music award category in 1988. Ian collected the award, on behalf of Fellside, from TV astronomer Sir Patrick Moore at their awards ceremony in the Café Royale, London. From 1987 to 1991, Ian had the privilege of singing and song writing with Glasgow singer/songwriter Ian Bruce. During this period they wrote about a dozen songs together many of which have since been recorded. ..........Ian continues to sing solo and with Jimmy Scott, as "Vangel" and is now about to team up with Ian Bruce again in the Spring with a number of clubs expressing an interest in the duo. " The two Ians are old friends of EFC and Scottish folk clubs in general and this will be a special treat to see them perform together once again, Ian Bruce and Ian Walker ot 2004 Crocketford Festival "Ian Bruce and Ian Walker balance each other better than itchy and scratchy. Not a wasted moment." Hector Christie Pleasance Cabaret bar 20:00 £8, £7, £5 |
