Subject: Hare & hound hunting song
From: Barbara

Hi crew. Someone tonight sang the Swarthbridge Hare, the Sthrathshield, the Stathbay, oh, heck -- the name of the town and then the Hare. It's the usual plot, names the dogs, tells of the chase, and closes with this being the 43rd S... Hare to be caught.
Now, I don't actually want this song, I want the tune, so I can recall what other song I know to this tune. All the way thru, I kept hearing different words, almost hearing them anyway. I think maybe it's a sea song.
Anyone, help?
Blessings,
Barbara

On Forum Search put Swarthfell in filter and set age to 2 years.

Thanks, folks, that's it! and the song I was hearing overlaid on it is from Gordon Bok's Schooners CD. The song there is called "Karl Edstrom and the Hesper" and is a transcription of this old sailor's letter set to the tune of the Swarthfell Hare. (and you can buy it from Folk Legacy, as Sandy will tell you shortly.
Blessings,
Barbara

Thanks, Barbara. You told 'em, not me. I'm cheerfully expendable now.
