A new public house is quite actively in the works, but negotiations are under wraps. "It must be done delicately." (to quote a favorite movie character of old)
I hope to be able to make an announcement mid-March. Until then, we are raising the rafters in various locals' homes.

The nice thing about having the sessions at a public place is that new people always feel free to drop in. It's my experience that that is less likely to happen after a session reverts to private homes. Of course, it's probably more enjoyable having basically the same people showing up each time at a private home, more opportunity to get to know them personally and less concern about experiencing the occasional "monkey wrench" that drops into a public session.

As I said above, please keep searching for a "public house."

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

After losing our pub place in Falmouth, MA - we finally reverted to hosting sessions in some of our own houses in Woods Hole and Falmouth, and it has proved pretty successful.
People bring snacks and drinks.
But we only do it once a month, not weekly.

The exiled Cameronites are still wandering in the wilderness, though kindly locals have been opening their homes on Tuesday nights to ease their suffering. There is hope that the March winds may blow us some good news.

Damn, that's awful news. I really enjoyed the Chanty Sings on my trips over there, and spent many pleasant hours in Camerons. Very happy memories there. I hope that you find another good venue soon and that the Chanty sing is reborn at full strength.

Oh shit!

Cameron's was a great venue for singing and will be sorely missed.

Good luck in searching for a new host.

Our long time host, Cameron's Restaurant, has closed. The chantey sing leaders are pursuing new venues, and we should be back in action soon. Since it is not uncommon for out-of-towners to make the trek to Gloucester for this very popular weekly sing, we want to get the word out that it would be prudent to confirm when and where the sing is happening before making the long haul. Will report here when a new home is secured and the public sings are running again.
