thanks for the info about Dave's website - it confirmed what I thought, that this obit is for the Dave Molloy that I knew from Darwen folk club in the 1980s. I remember a gentle and supportive Dave and have good memories of time spent playing and singing with both him and Joan before I left the area at the end of the 80s.

Very sad news he could sing and play so well.His version of the Hiring Fair really was a class act.

John and I will miss Dave very much, he was a true friend, a lovely man and extremely talented. He helped John out many times with musical advice and accompaniments on his CDs. Our hearts go out to his family.

Sadly Dave passed away Mon 21 Feb 2011, he had been very poorly for some time. This fine singer/guitarist from Haslingden and a thoroughly nice guy will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. The funeral will be held at Accrington Crematorium 1pm Mon 28 Feb and refreshments after at Spring Terrace Working Mens Club. Dave's wife Joan asked if people will bring their instruments and voices to give Dave a good musical send off. Dave was a Saddleworth Folk Festival favourite and had many friends from the folk clubs in the area.
