Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's immoral, it's illegal or it makes From: Raggytash Date: 25 Feb 11 - 05:52 AM I believe it was covered by the Beverley Sisters amongst others and written by Edmundo Ros, it is on youtube but the words are not necessarily clear or correct |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's immoral, it's illegal or it makes From: gnomad Date: 25 Feb 11 - 05:53 PM If nobody has the lyrics there is a recording by Edmundo Ros. Here it seems to be on sale in the States, but you might find a UK copy. The short clip there makes it sound pretty clear. I've a feeling the original remark may be one of Dorothy Parker's wisecracks, but I haven't researched it. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: It's immoral, it's illegal or it makes From: John on the Sunset Coast Date: 25 Feb 11 - 06:35 PM I remember this song from about 1950 (give or take), but neither the Ros or Beverley Sisters' renditions are what I remember...The Ros version, a calypso, is closer to what I do recall, so maybe it was the one. Subject: Lyr Add: IT'S ILLEGAL IT'S IMMORAL OR IT MAKES... From: Jim Dixon Date: 01 Mar 11 - 10:18 AM Here's my transcription from the YouTube video: IT'S ILLEGAL, IT'S IMMORAL OR IT MAKES YOU FAT As sung by the Beverley Sisters CHORUS: It's illegal, it's immoral or it makes you fat. Oh, it really doesn't matter what you're aiming at. If it's something you enjoy, you can be certain that It's illegal, it's immoral or it makes you fat. 1. There are many philosophers who will agree That the best things in life are absolutely free, But you're bound to find out before you go too far, If it happens to be fun, the chances are—CHORUS 2. If you shoot the tax collector who plagues you all your life, If you kiss a pretty girl when you have an ugly wife, If you can't look a treacle pudding in the eye, Man, you might as well lay down and die. CHORUS |
