It was a subway song;
"Riding on the Seventh Avenue loco,
Number Nine to Two-Forty-Second Street..."
But who was it from ?
Was there something about a movement called "Peons for the City" mentioned in the persons' introduction ?
It was all so long ago......
   ....anyway, does that stir any memories ?

Is it a subway song by the way or a commuter train song?

Back in the late '70s'/early '80s' I heard somebody in New York, I think it was down at an open-air concert at the South Street Seaport, sing a New York parody of City of New Orleans.
Age and disorganisation have both removed most of the song from my brain, and lost the cassette I had recorded it on.
Does anybody have a copy of the lyrics ? Maybe even the original author ?
I would be happy to give full credit to the writers if I ever performed or recorded it.
