Subject: ADD: I Know Where I Am Now From: Joe Offer Date: 27 Feb 11 - 12:14 AM There's an (abbreviated) Jake Hess YouTube video here (click). I found the lyrics amd a full recording here: I KNOW WHERE I AM NOW (John Tubbs) They loaded him in and drove to the Opry. He was old now, weary, very near blind. They pulled in through the alley that lead to the stage door. They granted his last wish just to be kind. Many's the time he had stood by the curtain, Waiting his turn to walk out on the stage; Thunderous applause once welcomed the entrance, Of this old performer now crippled with age. He leaned on them heavy as slowly they led him, Through the back entrance and up to the round; Then by some magic his bent body straightened, I can make it from here now, I know where I am. Don't worry 'bout me, I know where I am now, Thanks for the hand, but now I can stand, I'll walk on alone; The voices and faces, I know them all well now, I can hear, I can see, don't worry 'bout me, I'm finally home. In life's travelling road show I've been a performer, When burdens were heavy, when days were too long; When there was a part for an old gospel singer, When folks needed hope I'd sing them my song. One of these days someone will lead me, Through Heaven's stage door and into the wings; There'll be a place in that final performance, I know my part and I'm ready to sing. Don't worry 'bout me, I know where I am now, Thanks for the hand, but now I can stand, I'll walk on alone; The faces of loved ones, the voice of my Father, I can hear, I can see, don't worry 'bout me, I'm finally home. I can hear, I can see, don't worry 'bout me, I'm finally home. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I Know Where I Am Now From: GUEST,Carol Date: 23 Jul 11 - 03:00 PM I've looked for a long time for the lyrics to a song I heard Jake Hess sing years ago. I only know four lines, but if someone else remembers this song, please tell me the entire song. Thank you. The song begins with Jake talking. He says he was in bed one night and woke up to see an angel standing at the foot of the bed. He said to the angel, Is it all over, and then the song begins with the angel singing.
It's just begun, This is not your final hour, You are going home. |
Subject: ADD: Going Home (Gaither production) From: Joe Offer Date: 23 Jul 11 - 03:53 PM Carol, I don't know if this is the one you're seeking, but I think it has been sung by Jake Hess. There's a video here (click). GOING HOME (Joe Lewis and Galt MacDermot) Many times in my childhood when we'd traveled so far, By nightfall how weary I'd grow; Father's arms would slip 'round me, So gently he'd say, "My child, we're going home." (Chorus) Going home, I'm going home, There's nothing to hold me here; Well, I've caught a glimpse of that heavenly land, Praise God, I'm going home. Now the twilight is fading and the day soon shall end; I get homesick the farther I roam; But my Father has led me each step of the way, And now we're going home. (Repeat chorus) |
