Hi all, Budefolk in North Cornwall, England are running a 2 day songwriting workshop in Bude on Sat 12th March 10.30am - 4pm and Sun 13th March 11am - 5pm led by Brilliant singer/songwriter Mike O'Connor.A 2 day songwriting workshop led by one of Cornwall's finest songwriters:

Mike's songwriting style is distinctive but rooted firmly in the tradition. His songs are known the world over and have been recorded by Martyn Wyndham-Read, Gordon Bok, Keith Kendrick, Sarah Morgan, Mike Nicholson & many more. He produced & directed the iconic folk operas The Cry of Tin, Unsung Heroes & Cornish Lads. Mike has an extensive background in musicology and folklore.
Mike has a relaxed and friendly teaching style. The workshop will cover the art & craft of songwriting: why we write songs, the tools & materials available for developing a traditional style, polishing & performing. Vocal and instrumental
skills are not essential but can help.

Cost is £20 for the two days and includes lunch, which I am sure you will agree is excellent value. Places are now very limited, but there are a few places left if anyone is keen to come and join us. pm me for more info.

Cheers, Lucy Burrow.

Fantastic value, I wish I lived nearer. Is too far away for me. I always enjoy hearing how different people write and trying different styles. All the best for it.

Mike did two excellent workshops at the Lewes Saturday Folk Club last year, one on Cornish tunes from manuscripts and one on song-writing. Highly recommended.
