Family, friends and fellow campaigners will gather on Saturday 12th March at the home of the Bothy Folk Club Park Golf Club, Park Road West, Southport for a night of music and song to celebrate the life of George Strattan, veteran peace activist, folk singer and trade unionist who died in Southport in December 2009 aged 89, and also of his late wife Viola (known as Vi), who worked tirelessly alongside George, particularly in the peace movement.
Various local artists inc Dick Strattan, Peacemakers, Clarionm, Socialist Singers, Dee Coombes, FBI Blues, Keith Price, Pete Rimmer, Neville Grundy, Clive Pownceby, Kevin Littlewood, Tony Gibbons, Bob Tyrer, plus others.
It will be a fund raising night for The Strattan Scholarship/,

Thanks Les, for starting this. Pete Coe did a fund-raiser back in November for us and this annual event builds on the goodwill that was much in evidence at last year's initial get-together. This launched the Scholarship Fund as well as being a celebration of George's tireless activity for the greater good.
We have a CD readied for release with 12 tracks of George's singing plus Jim James on guitar and anyone who can't be there next weekend and who would like a copy (£5) is welcome to give us a call on the numbers above. There will be admissions on the door as well as the advance tickets.
