I mentioned Fylde too. It's the only festival we're actually doing for the first time. Looking forward to it.

I get these Northern names muddled too David - specially Shipley, Skipton, (Both mean Boat Town as it happens) Shepley (Sheep Clearing) etc..

I think Shakespeare's Mr Omlette had a problem too...

The festival is actually in Shepley, which is a bit more rural than Shipley to say the least. Although it doesn't house Salt's Mill...

Has everyone forgotton "Fylde"? Now in its 39th year and the biggest in the North West of England.Sept.3rd/4th/5th/6th. in the West Lancashire Victorian port of Fleetwood. Concerts, singarounds, music sessions, dance [both social & ritual], workshops special events including this year "Kipling/Bellamy" & "The Golden Dream"... 175 years of Fleetwood.

Don't forget St Neots Folk Festival on the weekend of June 10th- 11th-12th.
Anahata ( treewind) and I will be there with a presentation of Cambridge Folk Songs and a concert spot. The festival website seems to have a broken link. Try googling St Neots folk club.

Strictly speaking they are in the East Midlands (Leicestershire) but both Moira Furnace Folk Festival and 'The Folk Thing' at Ashby Folville although not free are very good value for money. Both have camping at a reasonable cost. Details available on websites.

And the Traditional Music Day at Stowmarket in September, if possible, but this may depend on hospitalisation or not depending on the waiting lists under the NHS!

Whilst not a folk festival as such, Lymm Folk Club run a series of extra events during Lymm Village Festival, which this year starts on Thursday June 23rd and runs for ten days.

I'll be putting the events list up around Easter time, but a useful download for the club generally is an RTF list that is updated weekly.

Over the weekend of 25th/26th June we're running an Open Mic session, songwriting competition (5th year running) and concerts with Geoff Higginbottom, The Time Bandits and Pete Coe (who is also a judge for the competition).

Other guests over the festival period include Stanley Accrington, the club residents in concert, Peter and Barbara Snape and a surprise concert yet to be announced.

Unlike a 'conventional' folk festival, we won't be having events running concurrently, workshops or 'meet the artiste' sessions. For this reason we only sell tickets 'per concert' (there is no 'Season Ticket') - but tickets are cheaper if booked in advance, which applies to any guest night over the whole year.

For those of you saying you cant afford to go to festivals, BUDE & STRATTON FOLK FESTIVAL
is a great little festival on 27-30th May.....a fringe festival with concerts, ceilidhs and workshops.At £20 per weekend ticket - 3 days and 4 nights of great music, song and dance with camping available for weekend tickets at Bude Rugby Club at £8 PER UNIT per night, plus 50p temporary membership of the rugby club (all camping costs are at cost, we make no profit) Its a great value festival with some fantastic guests, a VERY warm welcome and the seaside too!
Come along and give it a try, you won't regret it!
