A lot of people who've visited Edinburgh will have met Audrey Maclennan, the indomitable bodhran-playing old lady who lived near Sandy Bells and was often in there. According to Simon Thoumire at Footstompin, she died on Monday and the funeral is next Thursday.

I last saw her in Bells only a few weeks ago; she could still dance like somebody 30 years younger.

In her heaven the angels will all play bodhrans and the clouds will be ashtrays. I can't think of anybody who had a happier last few years; she acted as though she was up there already.

I remember Audrey fondly, Jack. I recall she was always such a cheerful lady.
