Last year many 'Catters made wonderful contributions to this thread, requesting suggestions for a name for my new early music duo.

We are now ready to launch the CD, and you are all invited.

We are The Night Watch, 2 folkies playing genuine mediaeval, renaissance and baroque music on period instruments, exploring the links between folk music and early music. The Night Watch website gives a lowdown on all of the instruments we play, with soundfiles, plus 9 soundclips from the album, a live snippet, publicity material, etc. (Any 'Catters who wish to buy the album are most welcome!)

Nice things people have said about us:

"eclectic and highly entertaining" - Diabolus In Musica
"two very top instrumentalists" - Circle Folk Club

"a super CD ... it's such fun ... very, very good early music perpetrators" is what Genevieve Tudor, presenter of Sunday Folk on BBC Radio Shropshire said of The Ambassadors, our soon to be released new album. We are playing live on her programme on Sunday 3rd April. The programme starts at 7pm. If you miss the programme or cannot receive it in your area, you can hear it for the week after the broadcast here

The Ambassadors, the debut album from The Night Watch, is to be released on Saturday 9th April 2011 in Romsley, West Midlands, an easy distance from the M5 and M6. Admission is FREE, but please do email us via the website for ticketed entry. With the ticket comes a free glass of wine or fruit juice and the opportunity to buy the CD. The Night Watch - Andy and Ian - will be putting on a full show, highlighting the album's mediaeval music in the first half and renaissance / baroque in the second, with clothes and period instruments to match. Please bring yourselves, your friends and your biggest smiles to St Kenelm Church Hall, Bromsgrove Road, Romsley, West Midlands, B62 0NT.

We'd love to see some Mudcatters there. If you request tickets, please say you read about it here.
