Subject: Tech: inability to make links From: frogprince Date: 17 Mar 11 - 03:25 PM It's been awhile since I happened to make a link from here, which I used to do with no problem. I just tried to link to a Youtube video. I first used html code myself, then tried the 'cat "make a link". Either way, I got "page not found"; the search line shows the supposed URL beginning with a bunch of reference to mudcat before the URL I entered. |
Subject: RE: Tech: inability to make links From: Jeri Date: 17 Mar 11 - 03:43 PM That happens when you try to copy a link from Google. If you go to the video and copy THAT address it should work. Other than guessing this, I'd have to SEE what you're talking about. |
Subject: RE: Tech: inability to make links From: frogprince Date: 17 Mar 11 - 04:12 PM will try it this way Found my primary problem; I tried to get by by starting with www., without the http://. The link is still balking on me for some reason, but at least it gets to Youtube now. I've triple-checked the URL. |

Subject: RE: Tech: inability to make links From: Tootler Date: 17 Mar 11 - 06:00 PM The safest way, I find, is to highlight the link in the browser address bar, copy it, then paste it into the html or the Mudcat link maker. Just make sure the entire address is highlighted. Double clicking on the address usually does the trick. I usually open another tab and have the page I want to link to there so it is easy to move from the target page to Mudcat. |
