Subject: Help ID a few songs?

I'm trying to figure out the names of a few songs sung by Randy Boone in the TV series The Virginian, and I thought somebody here might recognize them. First, the last number in this video medley of songs - it starts at about eleven minutes in.

Then two songs from this video - the one that begins at about 5:05, and the last one that begins at about 9:26.

The red titles on the videos, by the way, are episode titles.

Okay, I managed to find one of them on my own - the first one from the second video is a variation on 'Pretty Saro.' Still in the dark on the other two.

I can't listen to the links you posted right now. I hope this helps. Here's a list of song titles from an LP of Randy Boone songs:
SHADOW MOUNTAIN......ANYTHING LOVE CAN BUY........MEDICINE BOW.....TENNESSEE STUD............WALK BY THE RIVER........THE CATTLE CALL..........I LOVE MY WILLIE......BANKS OF THE OHIO.........PRETTY SARO....YONDER MOUNTAIN........JUST WAITIN'..........LONESOME TREE

Yes, I've seen that album...none of the titles seem to match up.

The first one sounds like a variation of THIS. If you do a search on Mudcat for Girl I Left Behind, you will get a bunch of threads to check for more info and also some very different songs/tunes, but this is the version closest found on google.

'The Girl I Left Behind' seems to be a match - funny that the title is so similar to 'The Girl I Left Behind Me' when the songs are entirely different.

The last song is still a mystery?

By the way, would anybody happen to know the name of Roberta Shore's solo from the first video (beginning around 2:45)? I'm trying to make up my mind whether it sounds like a traditional song or not.

Figured out the mystery song (not Roberta Shore's solo but the other) with the help of BMI...it's "Wanderin' Wonderin'," written by Randy Boone.

A GROUP OF aussie sheep=herders de-trained in Medicine Bow to
fight a range war with cowboys near Shilow. As they rode through town slowly they sang this haunting and sad ballad. Randy observed this and copies it that night in camp. I would like the title please.

Bob M, I've never heard of a "Shilow" in WY, near Medicine Bow, or anywhere else. Can you provide a source and any more information, please?

The episode with the sheepherders was 'Day of the Scorpion.' The song you were asking about is heard in this video, beginning at about 3:05, and later reprised by Randy Boone at about eight minutes into this one.

Whoops...seems I forgot to put in a guest name a couple of times. :) This identify-the-song game is rather fun!

One of the songs was "Well What do you Know" which is about how you expect one thing to happen but another thing happens. It is really a cute song with a lot of verses to it.

Do you mean "Wouldn't You Know?" (Here, at 11:20.) I like that one too! I still can't make out the entire last verse because of the dialogue in the scene. According to BMI the song was written by Randy Boone & Irwin Coster.

I am trying to locate some of Randy Boone's albums for my father who is a fan of his and loves watching the Virginian. Can anyone help me out, even some album names would be helpful.

You can actually get CD copies of a couple from James Drury's website: http://thevirginian.net/pages/music.aspx. There are a few LPs on Ebay and similar places.

I am looking for the lyrics for a song sang in season4 ep.24...
"Rivers flow, birds fly away...
Sometimes I wonder why I stay...
That dusty road just seems to say...
I'll be movin' on someday"

Can anyone help me out?????

I like that one too. This is all I could find about it: there are two songs written by Randy Boone in the BMI database that seem to match the lyrics - one is 'Rivers Flow' and the other is 'Sometimes I Wonder.' Could be either, or those could even be two different versions of the same song - your guess is as good as mine.

In the episode it seemed to be just a fragment of a song; I've always wondered what the rest of it was like.
