Hi, Keith. Welcome to the Mudcat. Good for you and your son! Try looking through the Digital Tradition database, here, at the Mudcat. It has lyrics and some chords and tunes for over 8,000 songs. You can look them up by just scrolling through the alphabet, by putting in a title in the search box, or by putting words you know or general words of topic in the search box. For instance, putting in @irish, will get you a bunch of songs pertaining to Irish tradition and/or containing that word in their lyrics.

My sister and I just performed this summer, for the first time in public. Some easy ones to suggest would include Old Apple Tree; Tattooed Lady; & Green Green.

Good luck!

Why don`t you try `Father and son` by Cat Stephens? It is easy to play and you can sing the father`s and the son`s voice!

Good luck!

Any interest in old-timey cowboy songs? (I don't know what part of the world you're in. Here in Wyoming, cowboy songs go over just about anyplace you sing. But if you're in Memphis, they might not get it ....)
