Down the road, away went Polly, With a step so jolly, That I knew she'd win; Down the road, the pace was killing, But the mare was willing For a lightning spin: All the rest were licked, and might as well ne'er been born Woa mare! Woa mare! You've earned your little bit of corn! |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: songs and horses From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 29 Mar 11 - 10:30 AM I was intrigued, so I went to the Lester S. Levy Collection of American Songs and I searched for 'horse' under Subject. It came up with 61 songs. (You'd have to look at them to see how big a role a horse played in each song.) One of them was Camptown Races. |

Subject: Lyr Req: songs and horses From: GUEST,Richie Date: 29 Mar 11 - 08:46 AM Hi, I'm wanting to explore (find titles and lyrics) songs that mention or are about horses. Prefer songs that were found in the US that are PD (before 1923). Similar to Molly and Tenbrooks, All The Pretty Little Horses, I Ride an old Paint, Skewball. Any horse racing ballads would be good as well. TY Richie |
