We'll be at the French tunes and dance session this time. It's a Bank Hol, so the Stockton Heath Country Dance club can't use the school, which means I don't have to take the equipment etc.

There are so many good things, and not enough days in the month.

It was Helen's success with Rendezvous that made us think of using the same venue for Have a Go
but you've read that thread already

Made it to the festival on the Saturday. It was held at the National Waterways Museum . Great, atmospheric site with lots of small venues scattered around the area. (Most interesting was the cargo hold of a large barge!). Very pleasant light-touch singaround in the bar.

This was the first shanty festival at the museum - let's hope it happens again.

Regards

Just saw this - hope to get there at some stage this weekend. If I don't make it, give my regards to Bob Conroy!

Martin,
If you are in Chester over Easter there is also the Shanty Festival at the Waterways Museum in nearby Ellesmere Port. It should be good, and well worth a visit. See this earlier thread for more information:- Easter 2011 Maritime Festival or Trim Rig and a Doxy's webpage Shanty UK - 2011.

Matthew

Hi Mr Happy!

Happen to know if there's anything in the folk/traditional line in Chester over Easter? I'll be visiting for a few days.

Regards

A different kind of music session's held the 1st Monday of each month in Chester UK.

Like usual seshes, a bunch of musos gather together & play tunes, however this sesh has a bunch of dancers as well, doing mainly French & European stuff.

I've been a couple of times with melodeon.

There's hurdy-gurdy, fiddles, flutes, concertinas, melodeons, bagpipes, etc

Here's the website:http://www.rondezvous.co.uk/
