Subject: sticks and dots in the DT From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 01 Apr 11 - 12:17 PM Today I searched for 'Waters of Tyne' in the DT. Not only were the words there, but the musical notation for the tune appeared right before my eyes. Is this a new feature? Whether it is or not, thanks to the people who make it possible. |

Subject: RE: sticks and dots in the DT From: Artful Codger Date: 01 Apr 11 - 04:12 PM Yes, it's nice, as is the embedded tune player! But personally, I would appreciate also having the ABC (as at the Numachi "mirror") so one could transpose, adjust tempo, edit, add chords.... I also notice that the new dropdowns allow you to select, but not to actually go to the page referenced--at least that doesn't happen for me. In any case, I much prefer links, which I can open in new tabs (or in windows, or simply copy the link location, at MY option) without having to go away from the page I'm viewing each time I want to follow one of these references. Sometimes these "improvements" take away far more than they add. |

Subject: RE: sticks and dots in the DT From: Max Date: 01 Apr 11 - 05:07 PM Ah yes, thanks for noticing. That was kind of a secret launch there to quietly introduce it, on account of how well folkies handle change and all. A.C. Still working out the bugs, while the drop downs are an aesthetically efficient method of storing choices, they are not as usable as links are they? Joe made the same observations and yes, I agree. I'll put that on the list of tweaks. I'll look into the numachi site as well and see if I can find an improved method of including abc files into our existing infrastructure. |

Subject: RE: sticks and dots in the DT From: DMcG Date: 01 Apr 11 - 05:33 PM Just to stress, and in the light of other threads, I *DON'T* expect Mudcat or any other site to work with every browser, but I think its useful to know where there are problems even if it is not practical to do anything. So I am letting you know this feature doesn't seem to work with the browser on v6 of the BlackBerry browser. What seems to happen is the text appears and is then swiftly blanked. |

Subject: RE: sticks and dots in the DT From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 01 Apr 11 - 09:09 PM Max, I appreciate it. When people start discussing a song on Mudcat, I always want to hear the tune. If I like it, I add it to my repertoire. For example, we had a great time with 'Eileen Og' on St Patrick's Day because I had heard about it here. |
