If you are coming and need a place to stay, make reservations as soon as possible. Hotels, bed and breakfasts, etc., for miles around fill up quickly, and they are not cheap at this time of year. It may be better to stay somewhere off Aquidneck Island (which consists of Newport, Middletown, and Portsmouth). A better deal might be found along Rt. 195 from East Providence, RI, to New Bedford, MA. Be aware that the traffic to Fort Adams can be heavy-- stop and go for the last several miles, and that the parking areas are a good walk from the actual concert site, but there are school bus shuttles that run between the parking lot and concert site. So far the shuttles have been free but drivers like tips. I usually take the shuttle to the concert site but walk back to my car because the buses get stuck in traffic after the concerts close.

Nice lineup this year!   I think they have hit upon a good blend. I wish them the best of luck, I might try to get up there this year.

This year the Saturday and Sunday afternoon concerts will be on July 30 and 31, a little earlier than usual. The Friday night, July 29, concert line-up has yet to be announced. Warning: parking prices at Fort Adams State Park are outrageous. I think the state is trying to balance the budget with the parking fees! And if you have to cross the Newport Bridge, the toll is $4 each way. If you are coming from the north, you should get directions that take you into Fall River, MA, and down through Tiverton, Portsmouth, and Middletown, RI, on Rt. 24 South to avoid the bridge. If you are coming from the south, you will have to go far out of your way to avoid it.
