Does anyone know who the singer is on this recording? It's a demo, probably from some point in the 1970s and has been preserved on an acetete from RCA Records. We rather like it - its a very summery slice of singer-songwriting, with what you could probably get away with calling an acid folk vibe to it. It's come to Lost Folk Tapes from Rob Cochrane of the Culture Catch blogsite - and he doesn't have any idea who it is, either. His guess is that it might be Catherine Howe, who recorded a couple of albums for RCA in the early seventies... though the material she released tended to be a lot poppier than this. Anyway, all we know is that the song is called Don't Hide Your Love and very lovely it is, too.

It sounds like a very early, very young Sandy Denny, That's my best guess..Like to be proven wrong.

According to Judy Dyble (ex fairport) It's definately not Sandy Denny or herself.

Sorry, but I've no idea... the likely suspects all seem to have been eliminated. Probably around ten years too soon to be Vikki Clayton...!

However, you could just be looking for two singers rather than just one... whilst it's possible it's the same singer double-tracked, I'm not so sure it is.

Maybe a demo from Mellow Candle (singers Clodagh Simonds and Alison Williams (now O'Donnell)? It's similar stylistically to some of their songs and the timeline might fit. Just another guess though and I'm probably wrong.
