To Friends Of The Borderline,
I know that you are all presently busy cleaning and preparing for the holidays and that is why we did not schedule a concert for April.

However, we have a real good one scheduled for Sunday afternoon, May 22nd which also happens to coincide with the Jewish holiday of Lag B'Omer which is a happy and joyous day, dedicated to good music. And we will have a really jolly time as we will be presenting STOUT, a 5 piece string band from Staten Island, NY known primarily for their rollicking music of the seven seas. Since many of us will be attending the Sea Music Festival at Mystic 2 weeks later, you can consider this concert as a Mystic Preview.

STOUT is a group of five accomplished musicians who perform American traditional tunes and songs. They also have an English and Irish repertoire and have written and perform original work. STOUT emphasizes the community and historical connections of all the music they perform. STOUT was founded in 1974 and appears at various venues in the United States as well as in Great Britain. STOUT performs frequently for the National Parks Service. STOUT has also received several arts grants to perform their music at various locations in Staten Island, New York and Long Island, New York.

STOUT has recorded five albums and CD's, the latest of which is entitled "Don't You Wish You'd Been There?" which includes ten original songs written by STOUT members as well as fifteen traditional songs.

Opening the show will be Mara Levine who in the opinion of many, has the best female voice at present among contemporary folksingers. She has already recorded her first album "Mara's Gems" and is presently working on her new CD.

The venue is the New City Volunteer Ambulance Corps, located at 200 - Congers Road, New City, NY 10956. The concert begins at 2 PM sharp. Admission is $20 per person ($15 for Borderline members) and we ask that you bring a cold pot luck dessert dish to share with 4 other people. For reservations e-mail Sol Zeller at solz1@optonline.net or telephone (845) 354-4586. You can also visit our website at www.borderlinefolkmusic.4themax.com
