I've been playing (concertina) and singing for years. I usually play from from at least a lead sheet. I have about 70 plus songs and tunes I'm comfortable with. In the past couple of years (retirement) I've taken to hitting open mics. The music stand and all are awkward and I'm trying to give it up. It seems to be a monumental task and I only have about 6 or 8 that I don't need music with.

I want to increase this, but it is a monumental task. Any ideas on how to make it easier, less daunting or at least more fun?

Thanks,

Kurt

If you can sing along with the tune whilst playing, you'll internalise it more readily - it's just a memory trick that you need, and you're probably nearer to it than you think!

Confidence is the key!

Instead of thinking 'I can't do this!' you simply keep telling yourself 'Don't be daft, of course I can!'...
