Subject: RE: Will doesn't Fly From: olddude Date: 11 Apr 11 - 07:19 PM When I was a kid Will, I once fell in a big pile of cow manure face first ... didn't hurt as much as your tumble but it took days to remove the smell :-) Think I would rather fall off a stage |

Subject: RE: Will doesn't Fly From: MikeL2 Date: 11 Apr 11 - 03:26 PM hi Will As someone who has tried to fly from a stage also, may I wish you a speedy recovery. What was injured most your pride or your back?? In my case it was my pride. I was so wound up in the number we were playing which ended in a huge crescendo before the interval that I completely forgot where I was and just stepped down as if it were just an ordinary step - not a five foot drop. Luckily I was bodily unhurt but I felt a complete idiot. Never did it again though !! Painkillers and Courvoisier......hmmm sounds good to me. Cheers Mikel2 |
Subject: RE: Will doesn't Fly From: gnu Date: 11 Apr 11 - 03:13 PM As for playing on and playing again the next night, "The show must go on!"... or there's no pay. Still, I am sure it was for the love of the muisc and the entertainment of the downtrodden masses. Do you get extras for physical damage?... tips, danger pay, whatever? |

Subject: RE: Will doesn't Fly From: Dave the Gnome Date: 11 Apr 11 - 01:55 PM Will he, won't he... :-) Tough luck mate. I fell in November and broke my wrist and there wasn't even anyone there to see it! One thing that did come out of it - Gas and air is a great thing (when they tried to reset it) but when that didn't work and they had to operate I found paracetamol and coedine (500/30) plus a bottle of something red doesn't half help! Get well soon and take flying lessons before you try it again. Dave |
Subject: RE: Will doesn't Fly From: Harmonium Hero Date: 11 Apr 11 - 12:07 PM Hi Will. Just seen this. Fell off the chair laughing and now I've got two cracked ribs.... Just joshing...it's only one rib. I sometimes fly in my sleep, which is probably the safest way. Hope you're back in the saddle soon. (Come to think of it, that's probably not a good idea either...) John Kelly. |

Subject: RE: Will doesn't Fly From: leeneia Date: 10 Apr 11 - 10:45 PM My goodness, I'm so sorry you had that fall. But I'm really glad the injuries are no worse. Don't blame Alan for not getting into the thread about the mosh pit. I didn't read it either. I thought it would be about over-eating. But that would have been 'nosh pit,' wouldn't it? Sorry about that. |

Subject: RE: Will doesn't Fly From: Will Fly Date: 10 Apr 11 - 06:35 PM Thanks folks. I had already referred to this in the "Diving into the mosh pit..." thread, but Day obviously hadn't read it. Subject: Will doesn't Fly From: Alan Day Date: 10 Apr 11 - 05:48 PM Will took off from a stage five feet high to fly, without wings (a rare mistake for flier) sadly he crash landed with his fuselage suffering a possible cracked rib and bad bruising.Showing his heroism and "The Show must go on" professionalism he did his gig and furthermore one the following night. I am sure you will join me in wishing Will a full recovery, but sadly I think his flying days are now numbered. To cheer him up I have written a Jazz tune for him (I will Email it to you tomorrow Will ). Up to today I was struggling with a title but "Crash Landing" it is. Al |
