Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: My guru always said Date: 21 Jun 11 - 11:51 AM A fantastic weekend at Alcester as usual!! Many thanks to Marje and the crew for their stirling work in looking after us all. Here's hoping we'll be OK for next year in the Rotunda! Very pleased with the Royal Oak, they welcomed us with open arms and it was an excellent concert venue. Apart from having the opportunities to sing, my highpoint had to be Mr Fox, just wonderful! Thanks to all who came to the Mudgather, ate chocolate, sang and laughed etc. We were a little worried that it was only an hour but it worked well and we didn't have to resort to plan B which was each person only singing a verse & chorus *grin* Anyway, here's the Register: Tig ShortyBrenda Doktor Doktor Billy Suggers (PP) Janet Elizabeth Wild Flying Dove The Lemonade Lady RWJ Noreen Cap'n'Ella my guru always said Seaking Harmony Angel Richard Atkins Guest, Andrea Apologies were received from: Merek'n'Dary Badger Firecat Bill t' Bodger Also spotted at the Festival were: Snuffy Selchie (R?) Will someone please get rid of the blanks for me? We had a brilliant time. Thanks Grand Union Folk Club for sponsoring Mr Fox to the festival. Thanks also to all of those who joined in our 'prowl' through the town or were waiting to see us at the Grieg. All of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we hope you did too. Sorry about the end of the concert at the town hall :-( Our website is www.mr-fox.org.uk |

Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: Dave Earl Date: 15 Jun 11 - 07:21 AM Blast!!!!!! Dental appointment (that I can't change)13:30 Friday so I won't now get to Festival until early evening. Please get it all going in my absence so that I can join in after I get set up on the campsite. If there's room in the car I may be able to get my electric bike on board so as to make getting round the venues a bit quicker. Dave |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: Green Man Date: 14 Jun 11 - 10:31 AM Chocolate? who said anything about Chocolate? If there is a campsite session, maybe we could arrange a pass for visitation. Having said that I never said that. :)) |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: My guru always said Date: 14 Jun 11 - 08:41 AM Ah, chocolate - must put that on the shopping list. Check the program but I'm pretty sure it's 4.15 in the Nursery on Saturday. Fast songs only as we only have an hour *grin* |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: Janet Elizabeth Date: 14 Jun 11 - 07:06 AM Looking forward to it. Web site's great - especially the wedding pics and the handy links to artists' web pages. I'll find the Mudgather OK, no worries as I have an sixth sense for chocolate. I won't be allowed on the camp site though, as I'm in B&B so Ch will be there too. I'll let you know if there are any facilities for drying friends' clothes ;-) See you soon! xx |

Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: Green Man Date: 09 Jun 11 - 07:38 AM Hi Guys and Gals, this is going to be a very special festival. We have the Royal Oak of course it's next to the concervative club in the 'notch' in the High Street where there is a small car park. I believe that the new landlords are 'folk virgins' but willing and happy to have us. I haven't explored the pub but it looks nice from the photographs. Folkies are resilient, we will adapt, we will improvise, we will overcome! (any difficulties) :) Anyway looking forward to seeing you all. GM |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: My guru always said Date: 08 Jun 11 - 02:17 PM Ah, that one (next to the post office), never been in there.... |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: Herga Kitty Date: 08 Jun 11 - 01:23 PM The Royal Oak is in the High Street. B49 5AB.... Kitty |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: My guru always said Date: 08 Jun 11 - 01:16 PM Looking forward to watching the Fox & cubs, got some in our garden at the moment, not as lively though! Think the Royal Oak is the one up near the fire station. If so, it's in the bar not a separate room. Mudgather looks to be Saturday tea-time (traditional), 4.15 start and only on for an hour in the Nursery. |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: GUEST,Guest Cub Date: 08 Jun 11 - 11:20 AM I'm getting very excited. Some of us have been invited to come out after dark at your festival :-) Watch out for the flares, listen for the drums and follow us for foxing fun. |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: GUEST,Square The Circle Date: 08 Jun 11 - 10:51 AM Where is the Royal Oak, is it near the Three Tuns or up near the church, and what sort of room has it got. |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: GUEST,Frug Date: 07 Jun 11 - 05:58 PM Think the non availability of the fire station is due to the reorganisation of fire service in this area which has seen some station closures and expanded roles for the remainder. Frank |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: Herga Kitty Date: 07 Jun 11 - 01:03 PM Tig - I fear you heard right! I've just got home from work to find that Marje has sent me the running order today - and there is (alas!) no column for Fire Station events. The Royal Oak pub seems to be serving as the replacement venue. It will be a grand weekend anyway! Kitty |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: Tig Date: 06 Jun 11 - 06:34 PM Well? |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: Tig Date: 05 Jun 11 - 08:14 AM I got told last night that we have lost the fire station as a venue. Please tell me this information is wrong :-( Where else (other than the Rotunda) can we find such excellent acoustics??? |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: Green Man Date: 03 Jun 11 - 06:05 AM Yes! its on and the website is available again to all that asked last night. Click Here |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: Green Man Date: 02 Jun 11 - 04:31 AM Ah, the Mudgather, well the awning outside the bar is always a good place because proximity to beer helps. Apart from that I think that we should see how warm it is. I remember the one year when the Mudgather developed into a really late night session outside the Grieg. Maybe this year will be the same.. Please wear badges if possible. I haven't heard from Tig lately and I am not sure if Badger is still in the Badge business. I look forward to seeing you and your nice shiny van, ;) GM |
Subject: RE: Alcester Summer Folk Festival From: My guru always said Date: 31 May 11 - 04:15 PM So very glad you've got the website sorted out, I've had several friends ask me what's happening! Any inside information on when and where the MudGather will be? Enquiring minds need to know.... |
