Subject: Origins: (Bawdy) Let Me Overhaul Your Car
From: GUEST,Babypix

Gentle Colleagues,

On the trail of provenance of a bawdy song attributed to Leadbelly and learned by handsome folksingin' hubby from the singing of Moe Hirsch-- something tells us that Tom Paley may have had a hand in this (I've written to him off of this forum, and am awaiting a reply).

We've gotten such burbles of implausibility on the Leadbelly connection, (and, truly, imaging Leadbelly using the word, "quirk"! Somehow doesn't feel right...) So anyway, here goes-- if you've heard this or know anything about it, please let us know.

Kindest regards, and see you on down the road-- we'll be touring the U.S. this summer, check out for details.

Your wheels are getting dusty, your engine's rusty,
Let Me Overhaul your car.
You really need a workout, and I'll get every quirk out;
Let me overhaul your car!

Let me get out and get under your hood,
I've got the kind of motor oil will do your engine good!
There is no time to back out, for I have got my jack out--
Let me overhaul your car!

Well, there it is, kids, for good or ill.

Kindest regards,

Deborah Robins-Hanks
