Stone Soup Coffeehouse was one of the first venues hosting the duo of Claudia Russell and Bruce Kaplan. They are returning for their third time to Stone Soup on April 16, 2011.

Tickets are 15.00 and available at Paypal.

Claudia Russell is a gifted vocalist and a musicians' musician. In 2000, she scored somewhat of a Folk Hit (if there is such a thing!) with her first CD, "Song Food," which appeared on more than a 100 playlists around the world and earned her Best New Artist honors from folk powerhouse station WUMB in Boston. She has appeared as a back-up artist on other songwriters' CDs. Since releasing "Song Food," Russell has toured extensively, accompanied by her husband Bruce Kaplan on mandolin and guitar. They have had the opportunity to share bills with great performers such as Peter Rowan, Tish Hinjosa, Terri Hendrix, Bill Morrisey, Jimmy La Favre, Roy Zimmerman, Steve Forbert, Bill Staines, Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer, Kevin So, and Rosalie Sorrels.

Her new CD, "Ready To Receive," was recorded around the country, with sessions in Memphis, Los Angeles, her new hometown of Berkeley, CA, and her home away from home, Door County, Wisconsin. Russell and Kaplan produced the CD with long time collaborator and frequent guest musician Carl Byron lending a hand, offering co-production on the last three songs recorded and advice throughout the project. Russell is a 3rd generation singer. Her father, Val Rosing, was a British crooner in the 1930s, best known as the singer of the original BBC recording of The Teddy Bears' Picnic. Russell and Kaplan were recently interviewed about her father on All Things Considered on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth.
