I'd sort of mentioned this tucked away in another thread when I started playing with it but I think I've gone as far as I want with this for now except for bug fixes and I have released Folkplay 0.4.

Folkplay is an attempt at a stand alone text Karaoke player/song database for the songs held at folkinfo. It can also add my attempt a few years back of getting the Digital Tradition Database into an online database so in a way I suppose it's a bit like the old dt player programs. The player can change the pitch of a tune and alter the tempo.

The player is able to display and transpose (via the pitch slider) abc, lyrics text, postscript and pdf. An internal text editor is provided for plain text formats but external editors/ viewers may be used instead. Pdf requires an external viewer such as acrobat reader.

It has an updater which can add and update songs held in the folkinfo song database as an when changes are made at folkinfo. The application can (I hope) also update itself when there is a new release.

It can be downloaded from here

Unzip the contents to a folder and run loader.jar.

----------------------------
Requirements:

An to date version of Java.

abc2midi - required to play midi
abc2abc - required to transpose abc
abcmp2ps - required to produce postscript
Ghostscript - required to convert postscript to pdf

Windows 32bit binaries (as well as the source code for other platforms) are provided in the zip file for abc2midi, abc2abc and abcm2ps.
Ghostscript is available here

--------------
I'd have liked to have tested it further but I don't have the resources. It is known to work on Linux (OpenSuse 11.4), Windows Vista (so presumably other 32 bit Windows versions) and Mac OSX. I'm unsure about 64 bit Windows.

Hey, Jon-
I downloaded the latest version today, and it works in 64-bit Windows 7! Thanks for all your hard work.

I can't say I understand that one but I'm glad 64 bit Windows has come right now. Thanks for letting me know.
