Sorry for the short notice, but my mind and body, temporarily, have been elsewhere!

The Brown University Folk Festival in Providence, RI, starts with a contradance tonight and continues with performances and workshops tomorrow. Here's the link www.brownfolkfest.org and the schedule for Saturday, which is FREE!:

12:00PM – 12:30PM Tall Heights (An acoustic folk duo from Boston)
12:30PM – 1:00PM ARRR!!! (Brown's only pirate-themed, sea-shanty-singing a capella group)
1:00PM – 2:00PM Vinegar Creek Constituency (Bluegrass / rockabilly / roots music from Lancaster, PA)
2:00PM – 3:00PM Singer-Songwriters In-The-Round 1 (A showcase of singer-songwriters from Brown and elsewhere, including Josh Garcia, Ana Mallozzi, and Sam Pearce)
3:00PM – 4:00PM Jake Hill and Deep Creek (An Americana / folk band from Plymouth, MA)
4:00PM – 5:00PM Student Band Competition Winners (The best of Brown's folk scene)
5:00PM – 6:30PM Singer-Songwriters In-The-Round 2 (A second showcase, featuring Kayla Ringelheim, Cauzamos, Mark Greenbaum, and Tom Thumb)
6:30PM – 7:00PM Creek River String Band (A high-energy bluegrass band from Roslindale, MA)
7:00PM – 7:30PM The Glass Jars (Melodramatic folk-rockers from Rhode Island)
7:30PM – 9:00PM Erin McKeown (A Brown alum with an innovative playing style, whose music has been described as a mix between folk, pop, swing, and rock)
9:00PM – 10:00PM Spirit Family Reunion (A folk rock group from Brooklyn, NY)
10:00PM – 11:00PM Tallahassee (A country / indie band fronted by a former NFL lineman)
11:00PM – 12:00AM Last Good Tooth (A local high-energy folk band to close out the 2011 festival)

3:00PM – 3:45PM Ghanaian Drumming
