(b) Taylor AB-3 acoustic bass guitar, very large body, round soundhole set on lower bout, spruce top, flamed maple back and sides, tapered body depth; black access plate on side; with Taylor leather strap; no case; S/N not recorded;

c) Bacon & Day "Silver Bell #1" tenor [four string] banjo, ca. 1924, 17-fret neck, metal flange, wooden resonator, inlays on fretboard, Oettlinger tailpiece, B&D metal plate on back of resonator; "Katrina survivor" label inside; S/N 11468 on dowel stick and rim; in high-quality Glen Cronkite dark brown leather gig bag;

d) Beard "Mike Auldridge" resophonic guitar (dobro), Model MA-6, 6 strings, black gloss finish, metal resonator cover, square neck, fancy inlays in fingerboard, with leather strap; no case; S/N MA6-135;

(e) Appalachian dulcimer, Capritaurus/Folk Roots/Rugg & Jaeckel, hourglass shape, four strings in three groups, scroll headstock, metal tuners, spruce top, mahogany (?) back and sides; no case; S/N not recorded;

Oh, dear. Keep your eyes on eBay. Will post on Facebook. I don't have a lot of FB Friends, but some are folk performers who may share my post.

There was ample reason that, in the Old West, horse thieves were summarily hanged. If you stole a man's horse, more often than not, you had stolen his means of livelihood.

The same holds true with the theft of a musical instrument.

Subject: RE: Stolen Instruments update: happy-ish ending
From: ClaireBear

A friend just posted this happy-ish update on Facebook:

For those friends who re-posted the note from Ed regarding his stolen instruments, he just posted this today: A HAPPY ENDING (almost)!

"I got a call today from a man who had bought four of my instruments. He offered to return them if I didn't involve the police. His girlfriend saw the Internet posting and persuaded him to call me. I got the Dobro, banjo, mandolin and bass back (the dulcimer is still missing.)"
