Subject: Lyr Add: THAT'S WHY I'M WALKIN'^^ From: Mountain Dog Date: 23 Apr 97 - 04:36 PM A recent posting about the venerable Robert Johnson's "Walkin' Blues" reminded me of one of my favorites, to wit: THAT'S WHY I'M WALKIN' Performed by Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee (Fantasy Records: "Goin' Back to New Orleans" 2-record set) A bouncy 12-bar blues with lots of room for the guitar and a harp to stretch out. Give it a listen if you can find the album. Verse 1: My boss-man was so mean, I works just like a slave 16 long hours drive you to your grave That's why I'm walkin', walkin' my blues away You know the sun gonna shine in my back door some day. Verse 2: I once had a car, it were painted white and black Couldn't keep up the payments, the man he took it back, That's why I'm walkin', walkin' my blues away (hey, hey, hey) You know the sun gonna shine in my back door some day. Verse 3: I wouldn't tell a mule to off if he sat down in my lap Ain't that the same thing killed my old gran'-pap? That's why I'm walkin', walkin' my blues away You know the sun gonna shine in my back door some day. Enjoy

Subject: Posting requests - beyond title From: Susan of DT Date: 14 Apr 97 - 07:02 PM We have been discussing how to title threads, but there are other issues within the request. People often ask for something about title XXX as sung by YYY and do not give a fragment of the song. This limits responses to people who know both song and singer. Other people who know the song, but not the recording referred to, are not likely to be able to respond. Give us all more hints whenever you can. Thanx. |
