Subject: RE: Folk RealAudio Radio Stations From: Áine Date: 16 Sep 99 - 06:18 PM Have any of you heard Live Ireland.com, especially the Celtic Stream show with David Lattimer? It's a real audio pre-recorded 'test program'. It's brilliant! Give it a listen and be sure to email Live Ireland to let them know that you want to keep it on the programming. Here's the URL: http://www.liveireland.com/ too simple to forget, eh? Let me know what you think. Áine |
Subject: RE: Folk RealAudio Radio Stations From: Sandy Paton Date: 17 Sep 99 - 05:04 AM I just exchanged a few personal notes with Mike Regenstreif and we agreed that Paul Stamler's show from St. Louis is one of the very best. Strongly tradition oriented, but not slavish. Paul is the fellow who put together Art Thieme's CD as a labor of love. Here's a copy of a note I got from Paul tonight:
"Yes, we're back up. CLICK HERE FOR KDHX
"In addition to my program (noon-2pm Sundays, central time) there are others that might be interesting to Mudcat folks, including "Ireland in America" (Mondays, 9am-noon); "Music from the Hills" (Eastern Europe, great show, 11:30am-1pm Fridays, I think); "Family Reunion" (right after me on Sundays, 2-3pm) and a whole raft of blues shows, mostly electric but some country blues too. Oh, and check out "Color Radio", a great eclectic show by Tom Hall, but I don't remember what time it's on; the schedule's on the website. "Musiques des Bayou" (Cajun-Zydeco) is also good."
Bob Blackman's excellent show from Lansing, Michigan, is also being done in RealAudio, but I don't have the address. Perhaps someone else can supply it. If not, I'll hunt it up and post it. |
Subject: RE: Folk RealAudio Radio Stations From: Mike Regenstreif Date: 17 Sep 99 - 09:59 AM The RealAudio archive of Bob Blackman's "The Folk Tradition" show can be found at WKAR's web site Rich Warren's Midnight Special from WFMT is here. Mike Regenstreif (hoping he did the blue clicky thing right) |
Subject: RE: Folk RealAudio Radio Stations From: GutBucketeer Date: 17 Sep 99 - 10:11 AM This is a topic that keeps coming up. Subject: RE: Folk RealAudio Radio Stations From: bigJ Date: 17 Sep 99 - 03:48 PM I'd be happy if you wished to join me on Sundays 5:30 to 6:30 (British Summer Time) and then, after that, you could listen to Bobby Bob speaking in tongues! My first blue clicky (...and all who sail in her!) |

Subject: RE: Folk RealAudio Radio Stations From: Sandy Paton Date: 17 Sep 99 - 09:31 PM Does anyone know if Ed Denson's show out in California is available? His playlists are often fantastic. |
Subject: RE: Folk RealAudio Radio Stations From: Mike Regenstreif Date: 18 Sep 99 - 06:00 PM Sandy, ED Denson's show is on KMUD on Saturday mornings (Pacific time). I just checked their web site and they are in RealAudio. Mike Regenstreif

Subject: a Cappella Harmony Webcast From: IvanB Date: 09 Jul 00 - 01:20 PM Sandy Paton mentioned Bob Blackman's Folk Tradition show in a post above. I thought I'd refresh this thread which has a lot of good information about webcast folk music, as well as mention that Bob's show this evening is his a cappella harmony show, which he does once or twice a year. Can't tell you what he might play - could be music from anywhere in the world, but there's usually a healthy selection from England/Ireland/Scotland and America, including some shape note singing. WKAR webcasts its entire FM schedule. Although it doesn't have as big a folk lineup as some of the stations mentioned in this thread, they carry the following: (all times are EST, same as Mudcat time) A Prairie Home Companion, Saturday 6:00-8:00pm American Routes, Saturday 8:00-10:00pm The Folk Tradition, Sunday 6:00-7:00pm The Folk Sampler, Sunday 7:00-8:00pm The Thistle and the Shamrock, Sunday 8:00-9:00pm Celtic Connection, Sunday 9:00-10:00pm Although all the above other than The Folk Tradition are nationally syndicated, I mention them in case the times they're scheduled on WKAR might fit your schedule better than a another local or webcast version. Also, The Folk Tradition is archived (Sunday's show is usually available the following Monday noon) for a week, so if Sunday isn't convenient, you can catch it at another time during the week. The link to The Folk Tradition is here: Click for The Folk Tradition If you click on the 'FM Webcast' button at the top of the page, you'll be connected to WKAR's currently scheduled programming. If you click on the 'Recent Program' button to the right of the show description, you'll be connected to the archived program. |
