Well, that was a lovely evening -- good turnout and fine singing all round -- and Mr Turner was even better than I remembered.
And, in spite of still dealing with the after-effects of bronchitis, his singing was amazing -- certainly couldn't tell from his voice! What a pro.

Thanks to Steve for a brilliant evening, and to all who attended -- first-timers as well as regulars.
Hope to see you all (except for Steve T, of course, who no doubt has other plans) again next month (9 June) for our "normal" evening of happy harmonising -- and "raising the roof" with great gusto!

Steve's at the Britannia, Archer Street, Darlington DL3 6LR on Tuesday 17th May
Steve's played the Brit many times going back when and if you've never tried the Brit its the perfect little room to hear him in.
It may well be one of those nights when we take off the door! A long standing tradition on busy nights.

Some tickets still available, in case you want to turn up on spec. (The upstairs room is cosy, but legally seats forty.)

Yeah Geoff. He stopped touring for a decade to concentrate on his Turner Violins Ltd shops, but he's been gigging again for a few years.

You need either a big voice or extreme accompanying skill if your preferred instrument is a concertina; Steve has both.

At Raise The Roof we booked him for our Christmas Party a couple of years ago, with great success. So we're chuffed to get him back for our May club night.

Bob

Haven't seen Steve perform for about 25 years. Always enjoyed his singing and found him to be a nice bloke.
Quack!
Geoff.

Just wanted folks to know that Steve Turner -- singer, concertina-player and musician extraordinaire -- will be the guest performer at Raise the Roof in Sheffield at 8.30 on Thursday, 12 May, 2011. Tickets: £5 - a real bargain!

Raise the Roof is a monthly chorus singaround which takes place at the Red Deer (an excellent real-ale pub) every second Thursday (except in August). Once or twice a year we invite a guest to perform and lead us in singing; we always have a great time.

For more information, pm me and/or check out the links in this post...
