Subject: Peter Kegan & The Wind From: Mbo Date: 16 Sep 99 - 02:48 PM I'm wondering if anyone known where I can find the lyrics and an available recording of Gordon Bok's "Peter Kegan & The Wind." Thanks. Mbo |
Subject: RE: Peter Kegan & The Wind From: Date: 16 Sep 99 - 03:21 PM I have both available, alas but not with me. the music and chords and tab are in Gordon's song book as well. I can get to you later this evening. Send me your email address, and I will send to you Musicman pevenden@vancouver.quik.com |

Subject: RE: Peter Kegan & The Wind From: Sandy Paton Date: 16 Sep 99 - 03:37 PM Sorry! I forgot to mention that it's on Gordon's North Wind's Clearing compact disc. Also in his book Time and the Flying Snow. Both are available through the Folk-Legacy web site. Sandy (still interested) |
Subject: RE: Peter Kegan & The Wind From: KathWestra Date: 16 Sep 99 - 04:17 PM I, of course, am totally disinterested. ;-) (You owe a big debt when somebody rescues you from the Grand Rapids Calvinists.) Check out the Folk-Legacy website, Mbo. Sandy, though he's too modest to blow his own horn, put up the money to publish this stuff in the first place, and still makes his (not-so-luxurious) living selling it. And he cares enough about this Mudcat place to give a percentage of his not-so-handsome profit back to the 'Cat to keep it going. Those "records edged in black" from Folk Legacy have made available this wonderful story-song of Gordon's and so much more. (Who in the world else would have financed the publication of something as obscure, albeit magical, as Gordon's "Seal Djiril's Hymn.") I'm a staunch Folk Legacy supporter -- and a great fan of all Gordon's music. End of testimonial. The ushers will now pass among you.... Kath |
Subject: RE: Peter Kegan & The Wind From: Jeri Date: 16 Sep 99 - 06:18 PM The cassette "Seal Djiril's Hymn" is available and well worth buying. I have the vinyl, and I've loved it for years. Of course, I can't think of one Gordon Bok song I don't like. Jeri, AKA "Clamfoot," who may have a wee bit of seal people blood. ;-) |
Subject: RE: Peter Kegan & The Wind From: BK Date: 16 Sep 99 - 11:11 PM Tommy Makem does it on one of the Makem & Clancey albums - we have it in vinyl, a double album, if I recall - I'll look quickly for the particulars => "The Makem & Clancey Concert" recorded in 1977 in Dublin, the label is Shanachie - #52003. lotta good stuff on that double vinyl album. Cheers, BK |
Subject: RE: Peter Kegan & The Wind From: alison Date: 17 Sep 99 - 03:00 AM Hi if you do a filter search using either "Cagon" or "wind" you will find older threads.... the correct spelling is Kagan.. the lyrics are here Joe gave the link in an earlier thread. slainte alison |
Subject: RE: Peter Kegan & The Wind From: Sandy Paton Date: 17 Sep 99 - 04:41 AM Please observe that the text one finds in response to that link does not even bother to credit Gordon Bok as author of the Peter Kagan cante-fable. I find that absolutely unconscionable! It was originally posted on the Web without Gordon's knowledge or consent. Let me point out that Gordon holds his own copyrights through Timberhead in Camden, Maine. Sandy |
