Subject: RE: Bobby Goldsboro From: josepp Date: 03 May 11 - 10:40 AM I wouldn't have to pretend to be mad if my wife wrecked the car. I would definitely be pissed off. |
Subject: RE: Bobby Goldsboro From: fat B****rd Date: 03 May 11 - 10:21 AM 'She wrecked the car and she was sad And so afraid that I'd be mad But what the heck though I pretended hard to be Guess you could say, she saw through me and hugged my neck.' Isn't that just what you'd say if your partner smashed the family car up?. Mind you, I quite like Little Things and so does Mrs. Charlie. |
Subject: RE: Bobby Goldsboro From: pdq Date: 03 May 11 - 09:09 AM Bobby Goldsboro made a living writing songs, but his two big hits "Honey" and "Watchin Scotty Grow" were written by other people. The latter was written by Scott "Mac" Davis, I would assume about his son. Goldsboro is regarded as a nerd, but Mac Davis was one of the strongest and toughest folks in Country music. Somebody you did not mess with. |

Subject: RE: Bobby Goldsboro From: Dave the Gnome Date: 01 May 11 - 04:19 PM I often wondered about the line "When the first rains came and she rushed out to brush the snow away". Begins to make some sonse now:-) MP |
Subject: RE: Bobby Goldsboro From: Dave the Gnome Date: 01 May 11 - 03:54 PM Spaw - You are an unacclaimed genius. If only I would have heard that version in 1968 my whole life would have been different :-) MP |
Subject: RE: Bobby Goldsboro From: catspaw49 Date: 01 May 11 - 03:45 PM Can't help you on that but I Do have a revised edition of "Honey" which you can use to replace the original................ "HONEY".......(Ol' Spaw's revised edition without apologies to Bobby Lame-Ass Goldsboro) See the tree, How big its grown And now you're dead I can't get blown I've got an itch. When you were alive It cost twenty-five Why did you always charge so much You fuckin' bitch Our tree grew large, It fell on you Now you're gone, My balls are blue I can't get laid. So now I've started shagging sheep And sometimes chickens in their sleep But they want paid. Oh Honey I miss you Cause when you were alive I could at least get a hand job For a buck fifty-five. Subject: Bobby Goldsboro From: Dave the Gnome Date: 01 May 11 - 02:55 PM I was listening to the steam wireless again yesterday. Bad habit I know but I can't help myself. I was trasported back to 1968 apparantly and Tony Blackburn was running down the chart. Some excelent stuff on there, some not so good, including the awfuly mawkish 'Honey' by Bobby Goldsboro. Now, I thought it was dire at the time and was only beaten in soppy sentimentality by Mr G's later hit 'A butterfly for Bucky'. Yeauch! Yet, on reflection, I remember him also doing a song about loosing his virginity to an older woman - Summer (The First Time), possibly, which was quite good. Looking at his list of songs and albums on Wiki it seems he has quite a broad range of songs - None of which I know because I was not realy into Country then. Still not that much a fan but I do like some nowadays - Is BG worth a listen to? Any fans out there want to show me the error of my ways? Cheers MP |
