The Bishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams bares a startlingly close resemblance to one of our stewart Mudcatters. Check it out: click here for PIX!

But which one is the real "Charley Noble"?

Charlie, I think you've got to give credit to Rowan Williams for the choice of hat!!!
It does make your cap seem a little understated!!

He's an 'Arch' Bishop Charley - "Mischievous; roguish:" according to the dictionary.

Michael et al-

"Arch" indeed and evidently with a sense of humor. But can he lead a shanty?

I kind of like the tunic but the cone-head thingie is rather over the top.

Cheerily,
Archbishop Charley Noble

My God! I've slept with the Archbishop of Canterbury! (Fortunately he kept his hands and other parts to himself.)

Thanks for the clarification, I think!

But would you mind addressing me in the future as "Your Excellency"?

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Actually, archbishops are addressed as "Your Grace".

Say "Goodnight", Gracie...

Maybe I could combine the two images with a "stovepipe hat."

Gracelessly,
Charley Noble

There is a current book out, the premise of which is responsible for many of the linguistic developments homo sap has achieved in the last few millennia.

Among others, Shakespeare was a notorious punster.

No!!!!!!!!! Not Billy Bob!!!! Next you'll be telling me that Oscar Wilde was also a punster...and Winston Churchill...and...and...Spider Robinson...and Severn and...Mark Twain.... I can't take it anymore!

Mind you, I kinda wonder what exactly the premise of the book is....

I dunno. The Good Archbishop looks like McGrath of Harlow to me....or maybe like Joe Offer. Or yeah, maybe like Charley Noble. Gee, maybe McGrath and I and Charley Noble and The Good Archbishop are quadruplets. I admit, though, with his hat off, The Good Archbishop does look most like Charley Noble.

-Joe Offer, himself-

Joe-

Nice photo! I'll add that one to my personal album.

A quartet would be fine with me. Lord only knows how many of my clones are out there?

But can they play 5-string banjo as well as I do?

GtS-

Jealous? Live with it!

Graciously,
Charley Noble

Olddude-

I've also been very impressed by what I've read about Archbishop Rowan Williams. He may not play the 5-string banjo as well as I do but he appears to be a thoughtful and principled man, with a keen appreciation of the creative arts. He also appears to have a good sense of humor.

Maybe we could meet at Cecil Sharp House the next time I'm in London. I'd offer to buy the first round.

Hmmm, now which of my songs should I plan to sing that evening? That will be an interesting challenge.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble
