Cats of War
The Pentagon's top-secret feline special-operations program, revealed.
By Holly Allen and Christopher Beam

The American commando team that killed Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan, reportedly included a dog, sparking furious speculation about the dog's identity and discussion of the role of canines in war. Less publicized—and far more essential to top-secret U.S. military operations—are cats.

Loved it, especially the one watching the video with Obama and Hilary Clinton.

'Let loose the Cats of War' does not quite have the same ring. Anyway who ever heard of a cat following orders! Plus just at the critical moment in an op' they would sit down and lick their nether regions.

So that's what my Siamese has been doing when I can't find him! Come to think of it, I think a few others of the "strays" I've taken in may have been on a mission or retired from special ops.

And here I was thinkin' this was gonna be a thread about all the political fights here...

I like cats okay. I like 'em way better than dogs. Dogs bark at me, and some (who are mostly dead now) have even attacked me, but cats mind their own business.

I'm just grateful that our cats are not forty pounds heavy or we would be quite bruised as they batted us around the apartment when we were not responsive enough to their needs, or if they were just bored.

All three of our Siamese have a secret, deadly weapon - a piercing, howling wail when they don't get their own way. It comes under the category of Cruel and Unusual Punishment, and is extremely effective.

The University of Washington studied, with Military funding, the use of Crows as spies. It was demonstrated that the crows could learn to recognize specific humans and could pass on their ability to recognize the same persons to other crows.

One proposal was to train flocks of them to recognize bin Laden and release them in various places. When the crows indicated they saw him, observers would know where he was.

The idiotic suggestion was also advanced that training crows to recognize our own people lost behind enemy lines would be helpful in finding them for rescue, however I think that if I were lost in unfriendly territory a bunch of stupid birds announcing where I was would be extremely low on my list of "desired events."

It is quite possible that large herds of cats would be needed to eliminate crows whose training became obsolete due to changing battlefield situations(?). Cats are quite easily trained to perform complex tasks. The only problem is getting the cat to agree with your notion that the tasks you want them to do are in any way beneficial to the cat.

dogs have owners, cats have slaves

in my cartoon collection, I have one where a cat is at his computer telling another cat he just sold the dog on eBay.
