Subject: Folklore: Australian bawdy video From: GUEST,Major Bumsore (retired) Date: 10 May 11 - 11:44 PM I realise some of you might find this offering offensive - but most will just giggle. Last year the Celebrated Knockers & Knackers Band (comprised on innocent and anonymous folk renderers) released two CDs of Australian and Kiwi bawdy songs and poems. The reviewers said: 'disgustingly funny and culturally important', 'hysterical and important contribution to fighting off the politically correct police'. Make your own (dirty) minds up and sample this You Tube video where 'Andre Rude' (aka George Washingmachine) sings one of his favourite requests. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY5RqOoeaoM Additional information (including notes and track listings) can be found at the Rouseabout Records site www.undercovermusic.com.au |
Subject: RE: Australian bawdy video From: Mick Tems Date: 11 May 11 - 04:18 AM I used to sing that one years ago as as a youth! The more accurate operatic version goes: Last night I tried my hand at masturbation, It did me good; I knew it would. Tonight I will repeat the operation, It will be nice; I'll do it twice. First I gave it a short stroke, Up and down, up and down, Then I gave it a long stroke, And tickled the ground, and tickled the ground. Squeezed it, pleased it, rolled it in floor, Smashed it, bashed it, slammed it in the door. Some people tell me that the art of sexual intercourse is grand, But I know that I prefer to hold it in my hand. |

Subject: RE: Australian bawdy video From: Bill D Date: 11 Sep 15 - 10:44 AM There are so many levels of 'bawdy' songs & poems that the mind quails. Some are clever & funny and well constructed, some are just stupid & crude. I remember hearing a song done at 2AM in a dark room which sounded funny & clever, but once written down, supposedly to learn it, turned out to have only one 'interesting' verse and a clever chorus. (The Mayor of Bayswater) Sometimes the fascination with repeating naughty words out loud that we had as 12 year old kids seems to never be upgraded in certain adults. I really enjoy clever bawdy songs, but the crude, silly ones wear on me. |
Subject: RE: Australian bawdy video From: GUEST,Grishka Date: 11 Sep 15 - 11:38 AM It is a parody and must be judged in that category. I agree that it is not the funniest parody of all, but "Squeezed it, pleased it ..." does make a point all right. The original, "Funiculi, Funicula", is sung by tenors in Napolitan style (though by no means "operatic"), which is often described as "erotic". The association with auto-erotics is disrespectful (as a parody should be) but not entirely arbitrary. |
