How does this sound to you? Folk session weekend and Ceilidh in Knucklas near Knighton, Powys 22nd Oct.
Same format as The Salwey weekends but just over the border in beautiful Wales. The Castle Inn is near the mid Wales railway line so access is easy.
Can you let me know if the date is ok. It's to coincide with the local Art Week

The Joneses from Oregon will be in Dolgellau that weekend! And it looks to me that your event is near 3 places we'd like to see - Llananno, The Pales, and Presteigne - from the great book - Wales: the 100 places to see before you die. Please keep us up to date, so that we can make your event and see the others too! No plans to die right yet, though.

Didn't want people to think Wales was too far. It's on Offa's Dyke so not too wild!
Can't think why Presteigne is a place you must see in particular, it's a cliquey 'fashionable' small market town full of in-comers. I don't think it's special at all. Sorry.

St. Andrews Church and
Judge's Lodging, plus a side trip to see the Llananno Screen!
Could be a great day, along with your session, if not raining too hard.

Trev: Raps are very very welcome, but the only book artists are the ceilidh band for the dance. It's just one BIG music and song session ALL weekend.

Would like to come if we're free that weekend (have an enquiry in for a ceilidh on the Saturday but the organiser hasn't confirmed and it's been a while!)

Will there be anywhere for us to stay in our motor home? (bigger than a camper van - taller and wider but not much longer)

What are camping arrangements and what does it cost?
Where's the loo?
Is the pub the only venue? How many rooms does it have, and are the natives friendly?
Is there a shop within 75 miles?

And if you are in Wales why not drop in at the Valley Folk Club in Pontardawe near Swansea [venue; The Ivy Bush, Brecon Rd ]. We have a singers night on the first friday of each month and a guest night on the third friday.Our next guest is the wonderful Stompin' Dave Allen who is appearing on friday the 17th June.All welcome!

Meeting with the pub etc next week to post out details. It will be on the same lines as The Salwey. When it comes to 'spare women' ... I'll put out a warning!

For those who don't use Facebook:
This is a weekend of music, song, local art exhibitions, walks, talks and a ceilidh. You can arrive on Friday if you wish. There's camping, hardstanding for caravans and camper vans, showers and toilets...all mod cons! You can arrive by train or bus. You'll have to pay for the ceilidh and spend as much money as you can afford in the The Castle Inn public house on food and real ale.

Once you've got everything sorted - landlords, camping etc - please can you put all details on here AND on Facebook [with link if you can]? As an aside - some schools west of the border have asked staff NOT to use Facebook because of the inherent danger of putting their feet in their careers etc, so some of your potential audience ISN'T on Facebook.
Will spread the word - there's a session every third Saturday at the Harp in Glasbury,on the Wye west of Hay, run by the jolly nice chap Phil Tipton.

So this event is getting closer now. There will be camping, hard standing, toilets and showers. Sue Harris' band, Bandomania are doing the ceilidh. There is a charge on the door for it. arrive Friday night and stay till Sunday.

I'm finding out about dogs, but not too hopeful...I don't know yet. Probably ok if youmhave a caravan or camper van but not if you have a tent, cos the campsite is on the playing field. I'll confirm when I know more.

We were told to park on a part finished housing estate opposite the pub. They seemed unsure how many were turning up. We are assuming it is from before lunch on the Saturday until after lunch on the Sunday.

I got the wrong end of the stick on this one, I thought Sal was organising it - she didn't attend and was involved only in an advisory capacity.

We were unable to get there - family illness. Again.

I was there from Sat afternoon untill Sun afternoon and apart from forgeting words I enjoyed it. It split into 2 sesions on Sat evening in addition to the ceilidh. Sal was there but not on Friday.

It's true, I was there all day Saturday till about 1am. It was well attended and I think for a first one these guys have organised, it went well. I have suggested they do another in four months time, but I fear they are cold footed about it. We'll see, I may do it myself, altho they are a bit possessive about their village. Watch this space.
