Not sure what kind of music you're into but I found the Mad for Trad bouzouki tutorial by Gerry McKee very helpful. It's a CD-Rom that's concerned with accompaniment of Irish tunes and features Niall Vallely on concertina. www.ossianusa.com

I found the same about the Cittern Group. When I first got mine I decided which tuning to use (DADGD - since modified to GCGDG for the Fylde) and then just played around until it sort of fell into place. If you don't want to work out chords for yourself, buy the Chord Alchemy PC app which will show you chord shapes in any tuning - brilliant tool for just a few quid.

doc rossi has a great book with cd, and he runs the ning site for citterns, lots of knowledgeable people there.

I found the Yahoo group spent all its time talking about the subtle constructional nuances in the building of high-end instruments and obscure recording and performers where a cittern has been used, plus discussions on the wide variety of tunings involved, with little information for the beginner.

Depending on how you are tuning it, you might find more help on bouzouki sites or open-tuned guitar tuition sites.

Anyone know of any good resources for beginning players of the modern cittern? I just bought one and am teaching myself at the moment, which is going okay but resources (books, videos etc.) would help.
