Subject: Origins: enhanced e-book available today.

Greetings all,

I am delighted to advise that my new book 'Australia: Its Folk Songs & Bush Ballads' is also released TODAY as an enhanced e-book.

This is the ABC and Harper Collins Australia first 'enhanced' e-book and it offers (in two downloadable volumes) 110 Australian folksongs from convict ballads through to songs about pioneering settlement, gold diggers, bushrangers, shearers and drovers plus songs of Australian romance, pomp and ceremony, maritime, lean times , unionism and sport. The book has already received widespread praise including a nomination for the Prime Minister's Book Prize. They cost $14.99 a volume (yes, nice and cheap). An Amazon Kindle version is in the pipeline.

The e-book is featured TODAY on the Apple iPad Store front page and, if you click on the book cover it will take you to a 'free sample' chapter that will give you a taste of the book, images, videos and, of course, music notation (which, like your mobile phone etc you can enlarge with a couple of taps).

The BIG POINT about the e-book is that the songs also offer the complete 'collected' version - primarily from the National Library of Australia collections of John Meredith, Norm O'Connor, Bob Michell, Rob Willis, Alex Hood and myself. This is a rare opportunity to hear field recordings of some of Australia's most important songs and ballads.

For Luddites the print version is available at bookshops (try your ABC Store) or directly from my mail order service at www.warrenfahey.com and - if you send an order in the next 7 days - you will also receive a bonus copy of the best-selling 'Classic Bush Yarns' (usually $24.95). Simply order the folk song book and the yarn book will be automatically added to the shipment.

Have fun!

Warren Fahey

I "enhanced" your thread title as a less generic thread title will attract more attention and make it easier to find through the search function. Thanks for letting us know about this.
