Subject: RE: Tune Req: Clannad - Jounrey's End From: GUEST,Tinker from Chicago Date: 18 May 11 - 05:01 PM Makem & Clancy recorded a song by that name, written by Judy B. Goodenough. Different song? |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Clannad - Jounrey's End From: RunrigFan Date: 18 May 11 - 06:07 PM That song is too recent; song I'm talking about is on Clannads album Macalla from 1985. The song is an original composition but melody reminds me of a traditional song. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Clannad - Jounrey's End From: cnd Date: 28 May 20 - 11:52 AM I'm not so sure it's traditional; on that same album Clannad credited one song as Traditional, but the credits say that Noel and Padraig Duggan wrote "Journey's End" https://www.discogs.com/Clannad-Macalla/release/451454 |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Clannad - Jounrey's End From: leeneia Date: 15 Jan 21 - 04:56 PM The video linked above says that "Journey's End" is licensed to YouTube by all these: SME (on behalf of Sony BMG Music UK); CMRRA, UNIAO BRASILEIRA DE EDITORAS DE MUSICA - UBEM, LatinAutorPerf, LatinAutor - UMPG, UMPG Publishing, BMI - Broadcast Music Inc., and 2 Music Rights Societies I think that decides the matter quite well - it is copyrighted material. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Clannad - Jounrey's End From: Steve Shaw Date: 15 Jan 21 - 07:14 PM Well it's a jolly la la lalala sort of song. Macalla was one of those albums that got you by the short and curlies that you simply had to get over, a bit like those big bags of crunchy sweet dried banana slices. Bono sang on one of the songs, probably the best thing he ever did. After Macalla, the clan Clannad, unfortunately, disappeared up their own electric bums. I once played Eleanor Plunkett with Pol in the Welly at Boscastle when he came to Cornwall, my only real claim to fame. In my early days of getting to appreciate stuff other than pop and Beethoven, Clannad were pivotal, for which I'm thankful, but I did move on. |
