I've long admired the Whitely brothers after first hearing them on Rick Fielding records and greatly enjoyed Chris's record with Diana Braithwaite. Now I learn that they are appearing in Reading's 21 South St blues club on 22nd September 2011(details from Reading Arts) so they are probably doing other UK dates as well. Not to be missed, roots & blues fans.

PS young Portsmouth shanty singer Chris Ricketts at Jagz tonight (29th) supported by even younger folkie Phoebe Wright. I'll be there if the jetlag doesn't catch up with me.

Sadly, when I got there I found out they had to return to Canada because of family illness. Sounds serious. Do any Toronto 'Catters have any news?
Late substitute was Guy Tortora, as good as ever, haven't seen him for a few years. Support was an Appalachian fiddle-cum-blues Trio "Colm (Irish), Cathy & Laurie". Interesting.
