Subject: RE: BS: Liverpool From: Richard from Liverpool Date: 22 May 11 - 09:49 AM Hiya, Perhaps I'm not 'in the know', but I don't think Friday's really a main night for folk sessions in Liverpool at the present time - there's Woody Guthrie Folk Club at the Ship and Mitre on Thursday night, but I can't think of anything going on in town on Friday (if anybody knows of something, I'd be interested to hear about it too!) Chester Folk Festival starts on Friday, doesn't it? Perhaps not exactly 'surrounding area', but certainly easily accessible via the Merseyrail network. |

From: GUEST,Chris B (Born Again Scouser) Date: 23 May 11 - 05:05 AM The Liverpool branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann hosts a traditional music session at the St Michaels Irish Centre on the corner of West Derby Road and Boundary Lane in Liverpool on the last Friday of each month - ie this Friday. It starts about 9pm. All musicians, singers and listeners welcome. Admission is free. For more information call the centre on 0151 263 1808. This has been running for years, by the way. It astonishes me that more people don't know about it. I have to say that the quality varies but generally, the more musicians turn up the better the session. New visitors and musicians are especially welcome. |
