Subject: Mudhook officially releases 'First Home'

At last year's Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival , our maritime group Mudhook pulled together an advanced edition of the CD we had started to record. Because the PMFF was the birthplace of our group, we dubbed the CD "First Home: 2010 PMFF Edition" and rushed a short run for the festival.

Now, after delays caused by studio construction, holidays, and life in general, I'm happy to report that we've finally finished and we just received our shipment of the official, final "First Home" CD! The formal unveiling will be our upcoming performance at the Piscataqua Waterfront Festival on June 4 in Portsmouth NH.

We want to thank everyone who has been so supportive of our group, including Tom Hall (Curmudgeon), Linn Shulz (Bat Goddess), Jeff Warner, everyone at The Press Room sessions, and anyone who has supported and participated in the PMFF.

I also want to thank the Mudcat community for helping me personally develop as a performer. The information, discussions and exchanges have proven invaluable.

For those curious about the new disc, it features five previously unreleased tracks and a remastering of all the material. (Two songs that appear on the PMFF edition were dropped, making that recording unique on its own.)

We're closing the loop on making the CD available online (Amazon, iTunes, CD Baby, etc.), but if anyone would like a copy in the meantime, drop a line on www.mudhook.net and we'll figure it out.

All the best,

Peter

Will I ever get the hang of "blicky's"?

Thanks for the fixes and (as always) the encouragement.

May have to send to Shep regardless...

BTW - if anyone is interested in getting a copy of the CD, just a reminder that we (Mudhook) will be performing this Saturday at 4pm at the Piscataqua Waterfront Festival in Portsmouth.

That's Portsmouth NH, USA...but we can set-up a Skype link if our UK brethren are interested. :-)

I don't want to overstep Mudcat etiquette, but I'd like to mention that "First Home" just became available on CD Baby. If anyone wants to give a listen or get a copy, you'll find First Home on CD Baby here.

Honest feedback always welcome.

Cheers,

Peter

Peter-

I have been listening to my copy off and on for the last couple of weeks and you boys certainly have done a fine professional job and there's still energy in your music as well!

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Here's a list of the tracks on this CD:

Round the Corner Sally

Sally Brown

New York Girls

Roll Down

Black Rogue/Out on the Ocean

The Good Ship Kangaroo

The Mermaid

Jolly Roving Tar

Honor and Praise

The Final Trawl

Martin Greigh

Three Sea Captains

Botany Bay

South Australia

The Yangtze (sic) River Shanty (Hamish Maclaren spelled "Yangtze" in an older style "Yangtse")

So this CD is primarily traditional shanties with some newer songs added in which sound traditional.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Thanks Charley!

BTW - We just confirmed the CD is now available on iTunes and Amazon, if people want to listen to samples there.

Sorry I missed the Press Room shanty sing this past weekend...next month for sure.

Cheers,

Peter
