Subject: RE: Review: Traditional Norwegian tunes on guitar From: bassen Date: 30 May 11 - 11:21 AM Glad you liked it Skarpi! Øystein has a website at http://oysteinsandbukt.no, unfortunately only in Norwegian. Here's a rough and ready translation of his description of "Normør": ""Normør" is a selection of fiddle tunes ("slåtter") from Nordmøre, transposed from fiddle to guitar. Although premises of the musical expression are set/determined by the guitar, the main ingredients remain the clear simple melodies and dance rhythms typical for the region of Nordmøre. Despite some arrangements, some improvisations and a little artistic freedom when it comes to tempo and tonality, the main expression remains within the tradition." Tunings for the individual melodies can be found here Bassen |

You can see him playing one of the cuts from the CD here ...and the title of this thread should really be "Traditional Norwegian Fiddle Tunes on Guitar"! |
