Øystein Sandbukt is a very talented and very versatile guitarist. He has just released a solo album containing old fiddle tunes and songs from Nordmøre the region where he (and I) live. You can hear samples here
Make sure you listen to the "hallings"!

Glad you liked it Skarpi!

Øystein has a website at http://oysteinsandbukt.no, unfortunately only in Norwegian. Here's a rough and ready translation of his description of "Normør":

""Normør" is a selection of fiddle tunes ("slåtter") from Nordmøre, transposed from fiddle to guitar. Although premises of the musical expression are set/determined by the guitar, the main ingredients remain the clear simple melodies and dance rhythms typical for the region of Nordmøre. Despite some arrangements, some improvisations and a little artistic freedom when it comes to tempo and tonality, the main expression remains within the tradition."

Tunings for the individual melodies can be found here

Sandbukt's CD "Normør" has been nominated for the Norwegian Grammy "Spellemannsprisen" in the folk/traditional music category! You can see him playing one of the cuts from the CD here

...and the title of this thread should really be "Traditional Norwegian Fiddle Tunes on Guitar"!
