But it's something the city-folks never will know,

2. I've played on the streets, in the pubs often sung,
I'm not fashed wi' electric to acoustic aye clung,
Aye and though just a blaw-in ne'er spoke wi' forked tongue
And I've picked up some freens on the wei.

3. I've put up wi' hecklers, their gibes would appal ye,
Ta'en the guid wi' the bad when the audience call me,
But nothing's mare cheering as a roaring come-all-ye
To end a night's tuneful soiree.

4. Contented wi' pickin's, I'm juist a jalouser,
Naw breingin' my innermaist thochts in the boozer,
