Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: saulgoldie Date: 04 Jun 11 - 10:41 AM That is funny! Although, at first, I thought it might be "full stop" and could have been a discussion of punctuation. By the way...Save the semicolon! Saul |

Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 04 Jun 11 - 11:17 AM Thaks for posting. It took me a while to figure out that they are supposed to be fighting. If you have ever walked the Anhinga Trail in Everglades National Park (an incredible bird-watching site in mid-winter) you would regard all that action as perfectly normal photography. |
Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: JohnInKansas Date: 05 Jun 11 - 07:48 PM I think this one is good enough to be refreshed, at least so that some more people may have a chance to discuss the historical significance. I note that, according to the recent pundits, all of the weapons used are "classically obsolete" and remembered only by a few old-timers. There's even an instance of "tossing fresh ammo" to a combatant whose weapon ran out. (Modern weapons don't even need to have new batteries very often.) Unfortunately I can't quite posit a specific time frame for this battle. We should also have some discussion about whether any of the participants knew what they thought they were fighting for ... and quite obviously the "generals" must be brought to trial as soon as the casualties are counted. Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: Charley Noble Date: 05 Jun 11 - 08:18 PM John- "whether any of the participants knew what they thought they were fighting for"? That is indeed a good question and this is certainly the forum to discuss it! Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: katlaughing Date: 05 Jun 11 - 08:37 PM Well, I'd like to know on whose authority they were sent out with such antiquated equipment. I *heard* something about some kickbacks involving the Natl. Geographic??? What's up with that? |
Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: Micca Date: 05 Jun 11 - 09:11 PM It reminded me of a book I read years ago that had one of the most memorable chapter titles ever, Q " What did you give that starving old woman on the park bench?" A "100th of a sec at f11" |
Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: GUEST,number 6 Date: 05 Jun 11 - 10:44 PM The battle is between the fascist corporate wedding/portrait/commercial photographers vs the democratic freedom loving left wing art photographers. biLL |
Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: JohnInKansas Date: 05 Jun 11 - 11:52 PM The battle might have been Gaoli and his friends trying to recover his stolen photo? John |
Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: Dead Horse Date: 06 Jun 11 - 04:40 AM I see that they failed to develope the right flank, but... Just remember that one battle is only part of the bigger picture, eh? |
Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: JohnInKansas Date: 06 Jun 11 - 05:17 AM Maybe the right flank had insufficient exposure to merit full development? John |

Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: JohnInKansas Date: 06 Jun 11 - 09:27 AM Maybe it was a paparazzi attack. An assault on certain John |
Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: GUEST,number 6 Date: 06 Jun 11 - 10:10 AM John .... I don't think these certain well known women would be hiking it about in the boondocks such as F-Stop Ridge ... but then again, maybe a certain well known couple chose F-Stop Ridge for a secret out of the way private place to have a ... hmmmm ... little tête-à-tête .... and the paparazzi got wind of it before hand. the frenzied shooting just got out of hand. biLL |
Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: katlaughing Date: 06 Jun 11 - 10:38 AM How many civilian casualties or is it collateral damage? |
Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: Charley Noble Date: 06 Jun 11 - 11:36 AM Kat- They probably cleaned up the "collateral damage" in Photoshop. Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: katlaughing Date: 06 Jun 11 - 01:50 PM Ugh! That means they cropped them? How bestial! |
Subject: RE: BS: Battle at F-Stop Ridge From: JohnInKansas Date: 06 Jun 11 - 02:53 PM kat - You know darned well that Photoshop can do lots of stuff besides just cropping them. Fuzz, filter, add, subtract, stretch, shrink and all the things that keep the beautiful people beautiful - - so I've heard. "Shave and a haircut - 6 clicks." John |
