Sarah Jarosz is a fantastically talented young singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. I've had the first album for a year or so and have been waiting eagerly since then for her to come and play in the UK. Anyone who likes great acoustic music should check this out. Here are the dates for the late July tour:

14th July CCA Glasgow
16th July Civic Theatre, Bedford
17th July Greystones, Sheffield
18th July St Bonaventures Social Club, Bristol
19th July Arts Centre, Norwich
20th July Bush Hall, London
22nd July Glee Club, Nottingham
23rd - 24th July Summertyne Festival, Gateshead

and some clips for your enjoyment:

Kat, I heard her at last summer's Newport Folk Festival and liked her a lot. I am glad but not surprised that she is doing so well.

Here's the blurb about this young woman who is remarkable, imo. Heard her in the Prairie Home Companion archived show from last week HERE. I am impressed:

Sarah Jarosz

Sarah Jarosz's debut album, Song Up In Her Head (Sugar Hill), was released in 2009 — at just about the same time she was graduating from high school. She went from cap and gown to a round of summer music festivals, then pulled up stakes in Wimberley, Texas, to enroll in the New England Conservatory of Music. The kid who started playing mandolin at age 10 — and branched out to clawhammer banjo and guitar — has a new CD, Follow Me Down (Sugar Hill). Jarosz is joined by Nathaniel Smith (cello) and Alex Hargreaves (fiddle).

Her back up musicians are superb and I really like her own songs AND her banjo pickin'! She's going to be in Glasgow this summer.
